Roles & Responsibilities of Dean

  1. Academic planning and academic audit of the programmes and implementation of academic policies approved by the Academic Council in respect of academic development, maintenance of quality of education including standards of Teaching, Research and Training of teachers within his faculty. He shall work directly under the superintendence, direction and control of the Principal;
  2. Development and application of quality benchmarks or parameters for various academic and administrative activities of higher education;
  3. Arrange for feedback responses from the students, the teachers, non-teaching staff, the parents and the other stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes;
  4. Ensure appropriate actions, as are needed for maintenance of quality of teaching spelt out by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell;
  5. Ensure that the teachers’ appraisal by students is carried out and the reports thereof are sent to the authorities concerned;
  6. Be responsible for dissemination of information on the various quality parameters of higher education, as may be defined by various national level bodies dealing with assessment and accreditation of quality in educational institutions;
  7. Organize inter-institutional and intra-institutional Symposium, Workshops, Seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles;
  8. Co-ordinate quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of good practices, development and maintenance of institutional database, through management information system for the purposes of maintaining or enhancing the institutional quality;
  9. Be responsible for development of quality culture in higher education;
  10.  In regular interval, need to submit Annual Quality Assurance Report of programmes within his faculty, based on the quality parameters or assessment criteria, developed by the relevant quality assurance bodies, in the prescribed format;
  11.  Be responsible for bi-annual development of quality parameters and ranking of integral units of higher education based on the Annual Quality Assurance Report;
  12.  Interact with IQAC in the pre-accreditation and post-accreditation quality assessment, sustenance and enhancement endeavours;
  13.  Control, regulate and co-ordinate research activities to maintain standards of teaching and research in departments;
  14.  Recommend to the Academic Council proposals for conduct of under-graduate & post-graduate courses in colleges;

Responsibilities & Report to the Principal

  • Ignite & Motivate the faculty to understand Basic Research& Consultancy
  • Identify the faculty who are strong in Research & Innovation through various activities – Create Pool in Department / Domain wise
  • Connecting Industries and R & D sectors with respective Departments.
  • Identifying the Research & Scheme fund n connect respective industries with Departments
  • To monitor the effective utilisation of funds in the projects and related financial matters.
  • Monitoring and administration of consultancy work in the Institution
    Need to create Innovation & Research ideas Pool of Staff and Students
  • Keep Track of all Projects / Proposals and maintain and update records of Research Projects.
  • To formulate policy for sponsored research and consultancy projects.
  • The sole responsibility in Sponsored research and consultancy services, continuing education programme,
    and IIC, ARIIA, NISP of the institution.
  • Any other work assigned by the Principal / Management.

DEAN – INDUSTRIES & INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

The Industries & Relation synergizes the academic activities of this institution with the needs of all types of industries with strategic planning and implementation. For the successful running of the Industry Institutions Integration and making relations with International Universities and Industries, the IIP Coordinator (Dean) will play a major role.

Role And Responsibilities: Industries

  • Coordinate with Faculty & Students on Workshops, Conferences , Seminars Teaching process, Conduction of continuing education for industries curriculum design, Joint publication of papers with the industries
  • Representation of industrial experts as external examiners for students Category Research fellowships, Instructional resource materials from the industries, Establishing laboratory / Equipments by the industries, Utilization of specialized laboratory equipments of the institute by the industries, Conduction of training programmes for the industries,
  • Motivate Staff & Students in consultancy assignment of the industries, joint project with the industries, joint research with the industries, joint patent with the industries, industrial visits, industrial project works in summer trainings, Contribution of funds for co-curricular activities from Industries
  • Inviting industry experts to deliver lectures in symposia, seminars and conferences organizing exhibitions / model contests / competitions to show case the efforts taken up by the students.
  • Establishing legal bonding (MOU / Contract / Work Order / Apprentices / Internship with Job) of Institution with relevant Industries.
  • Conducting training programmes to industry personnel and provide certificate courses
  • Coordinate and direct the placement officers for the recruitment process & entrepreneur
  • His outcome will be qualified with minimum 10% Quality success in Placements ( like Salary / Type of Company / Nature of CORE Jobs) & 1% in the outgoing students as entrepreneurs

Role and Responsibilities: International Relations

In close cooperation with the Deans develop and implement the institution overall internationalization, study abroad and outreach strategy for the College, to include student mobility, target markets for international diversification and visibility, other opportunities for academic cooperation, and international projects with universities and other external partners;

  • Maintain and expand networks with academic and administrative with universities and partners around the globe;
  • Support and follow-up on essential administrative processes related to incoming and outgoing study abroad students;
  • Coordinate with EDCIL – SII get more Scholarships International Students
  • Support External Relations Officer (Career & Alumni) with administrative tasks such as setting up internship interviews, updating the database for study abroad alumni, etc.;
  • Attend international education conferences with the goal of holding meetings with individual partners (current and potential new partners)
  • Where possible (with respect to time and budget) prepare and organize trips with key faculty members / Students to partner universities where strategically relevant;
  • Establish International Students Cell (ISC) and maintain smooth cum powerful relationship with international students to handle all kind of compliances related to them.
  • His outcome will be qualified with minimum of 20% students studying from abroad in Rathinam 2023 & 2% of students must undergo the students exchange program with abroad universities.
