Mechanical Engineering Department

Mechanical Engineering is one of the major activities in the engineering profession and its principles are involved in the design, study, development and construction of nearly all of the physical devices and systems. Continued research and development have led to better machines and processes helping the mankind.

Among various engineering disciplines, mechanical engineering is the broadest, encompassing a wide variety of engineering fields at many specialties. Although it is commonly assumed that mechanical engineers are automotive engineers, in fact, mechanical engineers are employed in an enormous range of technical areas including: aeronautical, space/missile technology, acoustics, air conditioning, automatic controls, computer-aided design, energy management, fluid dynamics, tribology, robotics, biomechanics, and turbo machinery, just to name a few. Mechanical engineering is a challenging, rewarding, and highly respected profession. The department regularly organizes a series of lectures by academicians and professionals of the highest repute, which lay stress on the latest innovative technologies in the field of Mechanical Engineering.

Department of Mechanical Engineering at RTC is established during 2011 and is offering under graduate programme in Mechanical Engineering.

 List of Program Outcomes

PO1 Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2 Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO3 Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

Association Inauguration
Mechanical Engineering Department conducted an association inauguration of MECHRITZ-2018 on 05-09-2018 in the presence of Mr. Jegatheesh Narasimhan –Managing Director, Jega Precession Pvt Ltd, Coimbatore. More than 100 students actively participated in the event.

Seminar was conducted for second year students on “Importance of VMC coding and Setting” by the resource person S.RAMACHANDRAN, MANAGING DIRECTOR, ARROW TOOL AND MOULD Seminar was conducted for final year students on Industry 4.0 and Its Significance by the resource person D.RAJASEKARAN, APPLICATON ENGINEER, AXIS GLOBAL AUTOMATION PVT LTD.

CONFERENCES ORGANIZED

Third national conference on recent trends in engineering and technology (NCTRET-19)

This Conference provides a forum for undergraduates, postgraduates, research scholars and personnels from industry to come together and discuss the latest developments and innovations in Engineering and Technology. This helps the delegates to update their knowledge and provide a platform for future research activities in the field of Engineering. This also serves as a workshop for young researchers to build their research. The Conference has Plenary Lectures by Eminent personalities from reputed institutions to introduce the theme of the Conference.

NATIONAL LEVEL SEMINAR

National level seminar was conducted on MACHINE VISION AND OPTRONIC SYSTEM which was sponsored by TNSCST for an amount Rs 20,000. Various domain students are showing their interest for participation.

Industry Institute Interaction

Learn how to handle the CNC machine and its program with   real industrial products and reading of production drawings to enhance their knowledge in engineering industries with real time on the job hands in training in CNC machines scheduled is as follows by 8 hrs / week /batch up to entire semester.

We have a MOU with ARROW TOOLS and MOULDS to Learn about the industrial requirements and acquired knowledge about the engineering basics & impact of that in industries. Also how to work effectively in team with others and process of traditional machines vs CNC machines.
