Vision and Mission

The Department of Mathematics aspires to the highest standards of excellence in teaching and service. We will be a source for the promotion of problem solving, analytical thinking and utilizing technology. We will provide students with individualized help in their studies and we intend to develop a program whereby students may obtain tutoring as needed to successfully complete their mathematics courses.

The mission of the mathematics department is to provide an environment where students can learn and become competent users of mathematics and mathematical application. Moreover, the department will contribute to the development of students as mathematical thinkers, enabling them to become lifelong learners, to continue to grow in their chosen professions, and to function as productive citizens. We share and promote the belief that mathematics holds an important place in the history of humanity and a valuable one in the future of all human beings.

Program Expected Outcome (PEO)

Technical Proficiency
Provide a degree course, suitable for students of high ability, combining and relating mathematics, statistics, and the social sciences.

Professional Growth
Prepare students for further study, or for professional and managerial careers, particularly in areas requiring the application of quantitative skills.

Management Skills
Provide students with knowledge of Mathematics, Management and the interaction between the two.

Programme Outcome (PO)

At the end of the programme, the students will be able to

  • Think in a critical manner
  • Know when there is a need for information, to be able to identify, locate, evaluate, and effectively use that information for the issue or problem at hand.
  • Formulate and develop mathematical arguments in a logical manner.
  • Acquire good knowledge and understanding in advanced areas of mathematics and statistics, chosen by the student from the given courses.
  • Understand, formulate and use quantitative models arising in social science, business and other contexts.

Department Profile

The Department of Mathematics began its journey with an Under Graduate Course in 2010 and upgraded to the Post Graduate level in 2016 and now it stands as a full - fledged Department with the introduction of Research Programme (M.Phil). Interactive teaching methodologies like lectures, seminars, assignments and guest lectures are adopted to enliven the classroom atmosphere. Special care is administrated to Tamil medium students to boost their confidence. Regular tutor - ward sessions yield healthy relationships between staff and students.

The Department is proud of its versatile and inspiring staff members who take the pride of serving the cause of education, the nobility of its goal of uplifting the down - trodden and its unparalleled art of molding clay into gold in academics with a tender touch. The staff members constantly enhance their knowledge by attending International / National Seminars, Workshops, Conferences and Refresher Courses. They also share their knowledge and expertise with other Institutions through Guest Lectures.

  • Incessant showers of success of the students makes the department unique with over all pass percentage ranging between 90 - 100%
  • To bring about diversity and flexibility in the UG Degree courses the skill based subject is chosen such that it prepares the students for competitive examinations.
  • Hands - on Training in software packages – SPSS is provided
  • Our students are placed in various Educational Institutions, Banking and Insurance Sectors.
  • PG and Research rooms are equipped with LCD projectors.
Our department established in the year 2010.

The first blossoming flowers are sent out in the batch 2010 – 2013. Our second batch shined for the period 2011 - 2014. Our students were twinkling in the scenario from 2012 -15. Our records were enlightened in the year 2013 -16.Our intellectuals were sent in the period 2014-17. Our students got placed in TCS, CTS, INFOSYS, Cap Gemini, and VEE Technologies. Now we are stepping into success.
